What happens on the call
You give your address
ZIP code and street address. Internet lines differ from one block to the next, so the full address matters.
You hear the real options
The agent tells you which plans are available there: speed, monthly price, how long that price lasts, and any equipment or install fees.
You decide
Order on the spot and pick an install date, or hang up and think about it. Nothing is charged for asking.
Five ways a line reaches a house
Most addresses can get two or three of these. Speeds are typical advertised ranges and vary by address.
- Fiber300–5,000 Mbps down · same upFastest and steadiest. Best for video calls and large uploads. Not built out to every street yet.
- Cable100–2,000 Mbps down · 10–50 upAvailable at most city and suburban addresses. Upload is much slower than download.
- 5G home50–300 Mbps down · 10–30 upA wireless box you plug in yourself. Speed changes with signal strength and tower load.
- DSL5–100 Mbps down · 1–20 upRuns on phone lines. Often the only wired choice in rural areas, and slower the farther you are from the hub.
- Satellite25–250 Mbps down · 3–25 upWorks almost anywhere with a clear view of the sky. Higher delay, and many plans have data limits.

Keep this open during the call. A good agent answers every one of these plainly.

- Regular priceWhat will the bill be after the promotion ends?
- EquipmentIs the modem or router included, or is there a monthly rental fee? Can I use my own?
- InstallIs there an installation or activation fee, and can it be waived?
- ContractIs there a term agreement? What does it cost to cancel early?
- Data capIs there a monthly data limit, and what happens if I go over?
- Upload speedWhat is the upload speed? It is often left out of the headline number.

Questions people ask first
Who answers when I call?
A sales agent at one of our partner companies. PlansByZip is not an internet provider. We run this site and connect your call to an agent who can check plans at your address.
Does it cost anything?
No. You pay nothing to call or to hear the options. If you order a plan, the provider may pay our partner a commission, and we are paid for connecting the call. You are not charged for it.
Will I hear about every provider in my area?
Not always. The agent can offer plans from the providers their company works with, and that list may not include every company serving your street. Ask the agent which providers they checked.
Will you call or text me?
No. PlansByZip does not make sales calls or send text messages. You call when you choose. If you email us, we reply by email only. If you ask the agent on the call to follow up, their company may contact you at the number you called from.
Can I ask about TV or home phone too?
Yes. Many providers sell TV or home phone together with internet. Ask the agent what is offered at your address and what each part adds to the bill.
I am moving. When should I call?
About two weeks before move-in is a safe window. Install appointments can book out several days, more so at the start and end of a month.
Is there help for low-income households?
The federal Lifeline program gives eligible households a monthly discount on phone or internet service. Some providers also run their own reduced-price plans. Ask the agent what is offered at your address.
Lights on. Internet on.
Have your street address handy. The call usually takes a few minutes.
